India will compete in five sports on Saturday, July 25, at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with 3×3 wheelchair basketball joining boxing, bowls, swimming and artistic gymnastics on the day’s schedule.It is expected to be a relatively quiet day for India in terms of medal chances, with no confirmed medal events involving Indian athletes unless they qualify for the finals in artistic gymnastics and swimming.Boxer Sachin Siwach is the only Indian boxer to perform. He began his campaign in the men’s 60kg category after several Indian boxers received first-round byes.In bowls, defending four women’s gold medalists Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh will return to action in the women’s pairs competition, while Putul Sonowal will contest the men’s singles after his opening day win.India’s artistic gymnastics team of Pranati Nayak, Nishka Agarwal, Eshita Rewale and Protistha Samanta will compete in the team and individual qualification rounds after the men’s team failed to make an impact earlier in the Games.India’s schedule for Saturday, July 25
- 2:30 PM onwards – Artistic Gymnastics: Pranati Nayak, Nishka Agarwal, Eshita Rewale and Protistha Samanta in the women’s team and individual qualification rounds. (Medal event if they qualify.)
- 3:50 PM – Bowls: India vs Tonga in Women’s Pairs Sectional Play.
- 4:00 PM – Boxing: Sachin Siwach against Keoma Al-Ahmadieh (Canada) in men’s 60kg Round of 32.
- 4:19 PM – Swimming: Dhakshan Shashikumar in the men’s 400m freestyle heats. (Final at 11:30 PM if he qualifies.)
*Note: Srihari Natraj can compete in the men’s 50m backstroke final at 12:20 am if he qualifies.
- 4:43 PM – 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball: India vs Wales in women’s Pool B match.
- 7:30 PM – Bowls: Putul Sonowal vs. Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple (Malaysia) in Men’s Singles Sectional Play.
