Registration for AILET 2027 starts on August 7 and the exam will be held on December 13; NLU Delhi announces admission timetable

National Law University (NLU), Delhi has released the complete schedule for AILET 2027. The application process will begin on August 7 and the entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on December 13. The university also outlined the eligibility criteria, category-wise application fees and examination pattern, highlighting the key differences between AILET and CLAT for aspiring law students.

National Law University (NLU) has announced the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) timetable 2027. The university will conduct the entrance examination on December 13, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm, while the online application process will open on August 7, 2026. Candidates seeking admission to LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD programs at NLU Delhi for the academic session 2027-28 will be able to submit their applications through the official registration portal of the university once the process begins. Unlike the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), there are no separate sections for legal reasoning and quantitative techniques in AILET. However, the logical reasoning section may include some legal concepts to test the candidate’s problem-solving abilities.The AILET exam will be held offline and candidates will be allotted two hours to solve all the questions. Candidates applying for the five-year LLB (Honours) course must have passed or are sitting for Class 12 examination from a recognized board. Minimum qualifying marks are: General Category (45%), SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

AILET 2027 exam pattern: How is it different from CLAT

Although AILET and CLAT are both national law entrance exams, their question types are not exactly the same.The AILET BA LLB paper consists of 150 multiple choice questions covering:

Unlike CLAT, AILET does not have a separate section on legal reasoning or quantitative techniques. AILET Exam 2027: Fee Structure

The application fee for AILET 2027 has been fixed at Rs 3,500 for candidates belonging to the general, OBC, EWS and foreign categories. Candidates from SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories need to pay Rs 1,500 while SC/ST candidates belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category do not have to pay any application fee. Applicants should carefully check the prescribed eligibility criteria and complete all the requirements before submitting the application form to avoid any problems in the admission process.
