Veteran actress and former beauty queen Kalpana Iyer opens up about one of the toughest phases of her career. She shared how changing times in the film industry forced her to make difficult decisions in order to continue working. In a recent Instagram post, she admitted that in order to survive in the industry, she had to accept limited opportunities and roles. Looking back on that period, she recounts the struggles, pressures and compromises she faced in her career.Today, the actress took to Instagram Shared a series of throwback photos from her films and said, “My journey in the television industry started when an amazing woman and a talented creative woman imagined me in a character that no one had imagined before her… It took them days as my image was that of a dancer and a vamp and all negative roles were my forte, but she saw something and I agreed to do my first television series because she made me believe that I could and I wanted to do it. It was for myself and her that I agreed to do CPC Delhi DO KASHISH, directed by a very good director MS Meena Vaishnavi.”. (sic)Kalpana Iyer added, “This move will give me some amazing opportunities to grow over a long period of time and work in… Banegi Apni Baat, Dillagi, Junoon, Dard, Waqt Yule Love Stories, Chandrakanta, Kurukshetra, Farmaan, Margarita I played some amazing and wonderful roles and roles in other works. Television kept me busy, gave me a lot of fun, was financially comfortable and I was very happy with my life… Then some changes happened, less painful to sound, and I must admit that all the changes were not in my favour, as new mindsets and new attitudes became the norm, and slowly I had to endure disrespect and settle for mediocre roles and meager living in the name of fees, and simply understood that in order to survive, I had to accept anything and any role without complaint.“My principles and values cannot be exchanged for anything, and I would never, and have not, sold my integrity for the sake of a job, so…I resigned and moved on.”She entered the entertainment industry as a model and gained recognition after winning a beauty pageant. She later became a familiar face in Hindi films in the late 1970s and 1980s, popular for her performances as a dancer and character artist.Along with this, she has also appeared in several famous films including ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Satte Pe Satta’, ‘Anokha Rishta’, ‘Armaan’, ‘Humse Hai Zamana’ and ‘Wardat’ among others.
