Kalad said the government should create academic models to integrate Wakali tradition into higher education
PUNE: MIT World Peace University (MIT WPU) Executive Chancellor Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad has said that the government should develop a new academic model to integrate Warkari tradition in higher education. He said educationists should make a concerted effort to explore how to integrate science, spirituality and Wari tradition to integrate the values of the Warkari movement into higher education.Dr. Kalad spoke while welcoming the Palkis of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj on their arrival in Pune during the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage. The welcome ceremony, organized by MIT World Peace University, MAEER, was accompanied by the devotional chant “Dnyanoba Tukaram” and the rhythm of cymbals and mridang.Mr. and Mrs. Palki were welcomed by Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad and Dr. Aditi Rahul Karad, Director of Vishwaraj Hospital.

Talking to the media, Dr. Kalad said, “Dnyaneshwari and Tukaram Gatha should be translated into all languages so that the younger generation can connect with them. In this age of science, we should follow the vision of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Kalad to realize Kalivar through harmony of science and spirituality.“He added that MIT World Peace University had earlier organized a ‘Warkari Sammelan’ event to encourage discussions on the subject, saying the government could now consider launching new education policies based on such deliberations.Those present included Usha Vishwanath Karad, ADT University Executive Chancellor Dr. Mangesh T Karad, former Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University Dr. S N Pathan, author and speaker Dr. Sanjay Upadhye and university officials, faculty and students.
