playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi Won the Best Female Playback Singer Award at the 72nd National Film Awards. She was recognized for her performance in “Angu Vaana Konilu” in “ARM” starring Tovino Thomas. The music is composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas and the lyrics are written by Manu Manjith. Soon after the news was announced, Vijayalakshmi shared her happiness and spoke about her personal connection with the song.She told Maathrubhumi: “It was this song that inspired me and won me the National Award. I am very happy.”The singer explained that the lyrics have always encouraged her to overcome life’s challenges and helped her continue to move forward with confidence. She added, “The lyrics ‘Uyarnnu Vaa…Uyarnnu Vaa…break all barriers and rise…conquer the world and rise…’ always fill me with the strength to move forward. I have also overcome countless obstacles to reach where I am today.”

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi says thanks

After receiving the National Award, Vijayalakshmi offered a prayer of thanksgiving and thanked Vaikathappan, Adi Parashakti and the presiding deity of her family for blessing her with this achievement. The singer described the recognition as an unforgettable milestone in her musical journey. She also thanked composer Dib Ninan Thomas for writing the award-winning song.She said, “I love the song. But for me, nothing can beat ‘Kaatte Kaatte…’, a song from celluloid that gave me my first chance in films. I also hope to work with maestros Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman one day.”

Mammootty’s win makes the moment even more special

Apart from celebrating his success, Vijayalakshmi also expressed happiness that Mammootty won the National Film Award for Best Actor for Bramayugam.She said the achievement of the two artists from Vaikom made the occasion even more memorable and revealed that after the announcement, she tried to contact the veteran actor.Sharing her excitement, she said, “I was happy to know that Mammookka (Mammootty) has also won the National Award for Best Actor. It reminded me of the pride that two people in Vaikom felt receiving national honours.
