playback singer Abhijit Bhattacharya reveal his advice Udit Narayan has publicly acknowledged the viral kissing controversy instead of shying away from it and said he personally stood by his fellow singers when the backlash erupted.In a recent interview with Subhojit Ghosh, Abhijit recalled telling Udit to accept the incident and not defend himself.“I told Udit, ‘Just say yes.’ Someone kisses you. If fans hug you and kiss you, accept it. If they kiss you, then you kiss back. What’s the problem?” he said, adding that he encouraged the veteran singer to respond honestly and not shy away from the conversation.In early 2025, Udit Narayan faced intense criticism after video from a concert appeared to show him kissing a female fan on the lips during a live performance. The singer later defended himself, calling the moment a moment of love amid a “fan frenzy” and insisting there was no malicious intent.Abhijit used the incident to highlight what he said is his habit of standing with other artists during difficult times.

The singer said he often takes public stances in support of colleagues even when others choose to remain silent.Speaking about Udit, he said he wrote to express support and encourage him to acknowledge the incident and not let the controversy define him.Abhijit also cited another instance involving Sonu Nigam, saying he was one of the few who had publicly supported the singer in previous controversies.“When people targeted Sonu, I was by his side. Even those who were close to him either kept quiet or kept their distance. I was there,” he said. Abhijit said friendships in the entertainment industry are often one-sided and he believed that whenever he felt people needed help, he would support them, regardless of whether the move was reciprocated.
