Rising petrol and diesel prices, lower operating costs and a growing charging network are encouraging more customers to consider electric mobility for everyday use. Unlike a few years ago, electric vehicle ownership is no longer limited to higher budget segments. Buyers now have more options within the Rs 15 lakh range, offering practical driving range, essential features and suitability for daily commuting.From compact models aimed at the city to larger vehicles aimed at families, the market offers a range of choices for different requirements. Here’s a look at some of the most affordable electric cars currently available in India under Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, excluding BaaS). 1. Dad Tiago The first electric vehicle on the list is the Tata Tiago EV, priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in four variants and two battery pack options – 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The 24 kWh battery variant produces 75 hp and 114 Nm, while the 19.2 kWh version produces 61 hp and 110 Nm. The stated MIDC range for the larger battery has been increased to 285 km from 293 km, while the smaller battery variant now offers 226 km, from 223 km. According to Tata Motors, the C75’s real-world range is estimated at 205-215 km for the 24 kWh version and 160-170 km for the 19.2 kWh model.2. MG comet The second electric vehicle on the list is the MG Comet EV, priced at Rs 7.6 lakh (ex-showroom). MG Comet EV is offered in five variants: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charge. Talking about the battery and e-motor, it gets a 17.3 kWh battery mated to a single electric motor that produces 42 hp and 110 Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels. The battery is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance and has an ARAI-certified range of 230 km.3. Dad Punch EV Another Tata Motors car in the list is the Tata Punch EV, priced at Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV is offered with two battery pack options: 30 kWh and 40 kWh and is available in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ S. Prices for the non-BaaS variants range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh, ex-showroom. The larger battery has an ARAI certified range of 468km on a single charge and the C75 real world range of 355km.4. Citroen eC3Next up is the Citroen eC3 priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroen eC3 is equipped with a 29.2 kWh battery pack that powers the front electric motor, which produces 56 hp of power and 143 Nm of torque. The eC3 has an ARAI-certified range of 320 km on a single charge. 5. Tata Tigor EV Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, priced at Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 75 hp electric motor that produces 170 Nm of torque, paired with a 26 kWh battery. The sedan offers an ARAI-certified range of 315 km on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 59 minutes using the DC fast charger.
