The Calcutta High Court has ordered the police to arrest Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel in connection with a rape cases and seize his electronic devices to prevent the alleged circulation of sensitive material related to the plaintiff. According to a report from The Indian Express, the court also asked the police to continue efforts to trace and arrest him, as he has not been arrested yet.Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, in an order dated July 14, said the police should continue to try to arrest the accused and recover electronic devices containing material linked to the case.The order said, “The communication dated July 6, 2026 revealed that a pen drive/storage device was seized from the petitioner…and it is believed that some materials were stored in it… It appears that the accused persons…should be arrested for confiscating the electronic devices in their possession so that the data stored in it cannot be shared with others… “The communication dated July 6, 2026 disclosed the steps taken by the concerned police authorities for the arrest…[the accused] but the truth remains…[they] has not been caught yet. The concerned police authorities are directed to continue their efforts to arrest respondent nos. 6 and 7 [accused] and making confiscations of devices so that the obscene data stored in them is not disseminated further.”An FIR was registered last month at Mogra Police Station. The complainant accused Porel of establishing a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage, recording their intimate moments, and then threatening her. The case also includes charges of criminal intimidation and other offenses.According to the complaint, the two first contacted each other in 2023 before meeting in person. The woman alleged that Porel forcibly established a physical relationship with her and later continued to threaten her through phone calls, a colleague’s Instagram account and another mobile number. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation is ongoing.
