Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon return as Australia name squad for Bangladesh Tests

NEW DELHI: Cricket Australia on Tuesday named a 13-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, with captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon returned after recovering from injuries. The series, which begins on August 13, will be Bangladesh’s first Test tour of Australia since 2003. Australia lead the series in excellent form. The reigning World Test Championship holders are currently on top of the WTC 2025-27 standings after winning seven of their first eight matches.Australia’s chief selector George Bailey confirmed that the returning bowlers are fully fit.“As you would expect, we won’t lock in an XI yet, but we know that in these two Test series the depth is there.”“I’m sure there will be (future) tests that the (Big Four) group will play.

Busy Test schedule ahead

The Bangladesh series will begin with the first Test in Darwin from August 13 to 17. The second and final Test will be played in Mackay from August 22 to 26.The two-match series marks the start of a packed 12-month schedule for Australia, who are set to play 20 Test matches, including challenging tours of South Africa, India and England.
