Kia Syros EV explained: Top 5 things you need to know
Kia India recently unveiled the Syros EV. The company has also opened pre-bookings for the electric SUV priced at Rs 25,000 through its official website and dealerships. Offered with two battery pack options and a claimed driving range of up to 526 km, the Syros EV comes as the latest entrant in a growing segment. Here’s a look at the five biggest highlights of the new electric SUV.
Kia Syros EV : Indicated range up to 526 km
The Syros EV is available with two battery pack options. The larger 51.4 kWh battery offers an ARAI-certified range of 526 km, while the smaller 42 kWh battery is claimed to deliver 443 km on a full charge. Both versions are powered by a 171 HP front electric motor. Kia claims that the variant with the larger battery can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
Fast charging and battery technology
The electric SUV supports 100 kW DC fast charging, which allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes. It also comes with a built-in 10.8kW AC charger, battery conditioning technology and regenerative braking with i-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving.
EV-specific styling
Although the Syros EV has retained the overall design of its ICE sibling, it has received several styling elements specific to electric vehicles. These include Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, Ice Cube MFR LED headlights, Star Map LED lighting, flush door handles and 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Depending on the variant, customers can also opt for 16-inch wheels.
A cabin full of features
Inside, the Syros EV is equipped with a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display Panel that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 5-inch climate control display. Other key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connected features, Over-the-Air updates, 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, ventilated front and rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 4-way adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, smart camera with instruments and a 16-litre front trunk.
Security and ownership benefits
The Syros EV comes with ADAS level 2 package that contains 16 functions for autonomous driving, including Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. It also gets six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with automatic hold, a 360-degree camera and a blind-spot monitor as part of its 25 standard safety features.To make owning an EV more convenient, Kia also offers a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty, a guaranteed buyback program and its Battery as a Service (BaaS) financing option.The Kia Syros EV will be offered in seven variants in two battery pack options. Buyers will be able to choose from nine exterior colors and multiple interior themes. The company is yet to announce pricing for the electric SUV.
