The “Study Abroad and Employment in Germany Report – 2026 H1 Issue 1” released by Leap Scholar shows that Germany is becoming one of the fastest-growing study abroad destinations for Indian students, with an annual increase of 370% in applications in the first half of 2026.The report, based on inquiry and application data from more than 124,000 Indian study abroad aspirants between January and June 2026, shows that students are increasingly choosing Germany based on affordability, job prospects, post-study job opportunities and long-term career outcomes. Artificial intelligence and technology programs attract more applicantsTechnology-led programs saw the strongest growth in student interest in the first half of 2026. The report shows that the number of applications for the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence program increased by 600% compared with the previous year.Interest in computer science courses increased by 273%, while interest in the data science and artificial intelligence combination increased by 173%. Meanwhile, MBA interest fell 13%, reflecting a growing preference for technology programs linked to career opportunities.Postgraduate courses remain the main choice for Indian applicants, accounting for 82% of all German applications.
