Priest objects to Aamir and Gauri’s marriage
Shahi chief mufti Maulana Ibrahim Hussain of Muslim private Darul Ifta issued a fatwa on Aamir Khan’s marriage to Gauri Spratt, saying it was against Sharia law as she was not a Muslim, ANI reported.In a video posted online, the cleric said: “Muslim mard ke liye, iman walon ke liye, gair muslim se shaadi karna haraam hai.”He further claimed that it was a sin for a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman and said those who did not consider it sinful were ultimately responsible to God.
Comments on multiple marriages
The Maulana also commented on the practice of marriage, divorce and remarriage, saying it was unreasonable if a person could not discharge the responsibilities of every marriage equitably.Talking about Aamir Khan, he said: “This question is about film actor Aamir Khan. He recently married for the third time to a non-Muslim woman. Related to this, we are also seeing protests in society…”Neither Aamir Khan nor his representatives commented on the cleric’s remarks or the reported fatwa.
